EADTU: Organisation

 

EADTU is a membership organisation. The legal bodies and entities of EADTU are: 

 

The Executive Committee (ExCo) is a reflection of the full membership and consists of the President, the Secretary-General and Executive Committee members (who restrictedly can be appointed as Vice-President when this is appropriate). The General Board (re)elects a President, a Secretary-General and Executive Committee members. The Executive term is set for two years. For the sake of continuation it is recommended that (re)election of President and Secretary General is not taking place at the same time. For the same reason, Executive Board Committee are preferably also not all to be (re)elected at the same time. Click here for an overview of the Executive Committee.

  

The General Board (GenB) consists of full members only. Members to date are full members with a fixed status. They consist of universities (represented by their Rectors) and organisations including consortia (represented by their Principals) whose primary mission is Lifelong Open and Flexible learning in distance Higher Education. The General Board intends to operate through argumentation rather than through voting. When voting yet is unavoidable, the voting mechanism is based on one member one vote.

  

The Rectors Conference (ReCo): one category in the General Board, the Rectors from Lifelong Open and Flexible learning universities in distance Higher Education, constitute the so-called EADTU Rectors Conference to discuss strategic issues and set the goals and actions to their specific needs.

 
The Associations Conference (AsCo): the other category in the General Board, the Principals of organisations including consortia for Lifelong Open and Flexible learning in distance Higher Education, constitute the so-called EADTU Associations Conference to discuss strategic issues and set the goals and actions to their specific needs.

 

The EADTU-secretariat (Secr) is responsible for the daily management of the EADTU network and implementation of its action-lines. The allocation and prioritization of activities of the EADTU-secretariat are the responsibility of the Secretary General. This is shared with the Executive Committee as supervisor of the realisation of the annual activity-plan. 

  

Members: full members can be any academic organisation, which performs on the range of criteria listed below:
a. primary mission is LOF learning in distance HE;
b. integrated in the formal HE structure of the country of origin, fulfilling all national requirements of quality assurance and accreditation;
c. originating from Europe or neighbouring countries that signed the Bologna declaration;
d. visible to participate and initiate programmes, projects and task forces on EADTU level.
